Sustainability & Ethics

Manado is an ethical and sustainable brand creating fine jewelry mindfully.

At Manado we only use environmentally friendly processes for developing and manufacturing your jewelry pieces. We take every step possible to minimize our carbon footprint and act sustainably in each and every field of our business. Here is how we do it:

Our Factories

Manado supports local Balinese communities by working with a team of talented local artisans on a small scale ethically run production. They are committed to ethical work practices and comply with fair trade work conditions.

We trace our production throughout every step of our supply chain, making sure that our designs are made consciously from start to finish. That applies to where we source our gemstones, our gold and silver, to the way our silversmith are treated and paid. We care about everyone involved in the production process and insist on safe and healthy working conditions.

Our materials & packaging

At Manado we minimize gold and silver waste by using Eco materials and making your jewelry by hand in minimal batches. Manado is a slow fashion brand, and our designs are created to last you years.

90% of our pieces are made from Eco 925 sterling silver. Eco or recycled silver is not mined from the ground, instead it is produced using unwanted jewelry and scrap silver which is melted down to be reused again.

Recycled silver is an amazing resource, able to be repeatedly reused without diminishing in quality and without creating any environmental decay.

Our other natural materials like gemstones and organic pearls are responsibly sourced and environmentally conscious.

At Manado we believe that beautiful packaging should not harm the environment. That is why we have eliminated plastic from our supply chain to reduce unnecessary waste and use 100% recycled packaging with non toxic water-based ink to deliver your timeless pieces.
